South Sydney Mount Carmel Junior Cricket Clubs, or the “Bunnies”. This reflects our heritage as a longstanding cricket club based in South Sydney, and our commitment to the local area.
  • What are the Club colours?
Red and green - to reflect the Club’s heritage.
  • What area of Sydney do we cover?
While the Club will gladly accept members from any part of Sydney. But our catchment area covers anywhere in Sydney that is red and green - from Botany and Banksmeadow to the South, to Maroubra in the East and Redfern and Waterloo in the North. Our home ground is Booralee Park in Botany.
  • What is included in the registration fee?
For Cricket Blast it includes a backpack, ball, hat and t-shirt. For grade cricketers it included a Club hat and shirt, and provision of some equipment for training and match day.
  • How are registration fees determined?
They are determined each season to cover costs of equipment, clothing and Club events for the members. It also covers association fees and fees charged by Cricket NSW for the provision of services. We will provide access to professional coaches for U10s teams and above. Our fees are the best in the Eastern Suburbs / South Sydney
  • How do I register?
    Please register online at https://play.cricket.com.au/club/south-sydney-mt-carmel-junior-cricket-club/14f5235b-8ad8-eb11-a7ad-2818780da0cc?programId=4
  • How long does a match take?
For younger kids it’s just over an hour, for U10s and above it’s 2-2.5 hours.
  • What does my child need to wear?
The club cricket shirt and cap will be issued to members at the beginning of the season and is part of the membership fee. Younger kids can wear shorts or long trousers, while U10s and above wear long cricket whites.
  • What age group can my child play in?
The age cut off is 31st August. So, if your child turns 9 before 31st August, he or she will be in the U10s.
  • I want my child to play with his or her friends - is that possible?
We try to accommodate that wherever possible, though it may not be possible if the team is fully subscribed or if safety is an issue (i.e. a child is playing well above or below their level of ability).
  • Can my child play up or down an age?
That is possible. If a younger child shows the ability and is willing they can play a year, subject to safety being observed (e.g. older years use a progressively harder ball and require helmets and padding). If an older child with less experience seeks to play down a year, dispensation can be sought on safety grounds.
  • When is the cricket season?
The season runs from September/October to December, with a break over Christmas and resume again in February until March. See the Club calendar.
  • When is training?
Once registrations are in, teams are formed and Coaches and Managers are appointed, then training times can be set based on the best availability for team members. Last season training for all teams was on Tuesdays at Booralee Park in Botany.
  • Does the Club need my support?
Yes, if possible, South Sydney Mount Carmel greatly appreciated the enthusiastic support of parents as coaches, coaches assistants and manager, or volunteering to be on the Board of the Club, and for any events the Club may run.
